Bharti Airtel, the market leader is now providing 60 GB Internet data to postpaid consumers for free on installing the Airtel TV app. The free data might be given over a time of 6 Months where consumers will receive 10 GB of Internet data every month.
Earlier, this offer was different and the company has modified it now. Airtel was providing 30 GB of free Internet data (10 GB data each month for 3 Months), but has not elated advantages except for the extra 30 GB that it is providing now. Airtel users can avail the scheme by visiting to the MyAirtel app that will prompt them to install the Airtel TV app in order to receive free data. Only on doing this, the users will be capable of receiving the extra data.
With the scheme, the telecom company appears to push its Airtel TV app that provides OTT content and live TV from HOOQ, Eros Now, YouTube, Sony LIV, and Dailymotion. By providing content to Airtel consumers, the app can make sure data usage by the users of telecom company similar to the approach Reliance Jio provides content apps to its consumers to drive usage of data on its own system.
Holding high ARPU users, drive towards more postpaid users and push for online data consumption are some of plans of the company as it aims for India. Hence the decision can be witnessed as an approach to gain the same via postpaid schemes. Airtel had cited in its investor presentation that usage of data has raised up from 123 MB for each user for each month to almost 1006 MB for each used for each month in March 2017.
On a similar note, the company earlier this month rolled a new plan with a price tag of Rs 399. Below this plan, the company is providing limitless STD and local calls paired with 84 GB Internet data with a validity time of 84 Days. As per the company’s official website, once a consumer drains out her/his limit of 1,000 Minutes then she/he will charged Rs. 0.30 per minute for calls made to other operators and Rs 0.10 each minute for Airtel to Airtel calls.
